Kitchen Remodel

Silent Rivers Design + Build

1036 20th Street, West Des Moines

The goal of the project was to update the kitchen including opening it to living areas to provide better function and flow, allowing for family gatherings and entertaining.  To aid with holiday functions, we placed a wall oven and microwave near the dining room.  We removed interior walls and eliminated considerable dead space.

Custom cherry cabinets were crafted in our shop and their design included convenience items like full extension blu-motion-glides, a recycling stations, as well as substantial, highly functional storage.  To help unify the kitchen remodel with the rest of the home we carried the mahogany floor from the foyer through the dining room, kitchen, powder room and sunken living room.  We added new lighting and a Radio RA control system, allowing the homeowners to create scenes to intensify atmospheres and function during different tasks, eliminating the need to adjust each dimmer.

This renovation highlights sophisticated design, creative problem-solving and attentive craftsmanship as mirrored by a handmade steel and wood guard and handrail.
