HBA Committees

What is a Committee?

Committees are the work groups of the association. They are established by the HBA board of directors to carry out the approved policies and work program set by the association. Committees are responsible for adhering to the budget set forth for their work and for making any necessary recommendations to the board of directors.

Committees are staffed by volunteers from member firms. The HBA of Greater Des Moines president appoints committee chairs each year.

Why Should You Join a Committee?

As a member of the HBA, joining a committee is one of the most beneficial things you can do. Being on a committee gives you a world of opportunities for networking with new people and building relationships around your work to benefit the industry. Committee service is the best thing you can do to make a difference. If you want to make a change, you have to be involved. It's YOUR association - help us make it the best it can be!

There are many reasons to join:

  • "It's the best way to really take advantage of my membership...it makes my dues worthwhile."
  • "Together we actually accomplish things on the committee ...good things I never thought we could. We make each other better."
  • "Being on a committee gives me the chance to actually do something about issues and problems rather than just complaining."
  • "I can give back to the community and enhance the image of the building industry at the same time."
